Jones backing for Kiwomya

Notts County assistant boss Mick Jones has backed manager Chris Kiwomya to turn things around following their 2-0 win over Tranmere.

This week marked the one-year anniversary of the tragic death of Kiwomya's son Lucas, while County supporters have been calling for his sacking after their worst start to the season for 151 years. The Magpies climbed off bottom spot with victory over Tranmere however - Joss Labadie slotting home against his former club early on before substitute Marcus Haber made the points safe with 12 minutes to go. And Jones is convinced the former Arsenal striker is the right man to guide County up the table. "With Chris Kiwomya's personal circumstances it has been a very difficult week. I'm a bit emotional and I'm pleased for him," said Jones. "He's had a difficult time and we haven't helped him with the two performances one iota. "But Chris is a tough little fellow and he won't lie down. With various circumstances to contend with as well as football, most people would have crumbled by now. "But he hasn't, he's a tough kid and he'll come out on top I'm sure. "Come the end of the season, when there's a turning point you look back on, I think this will be one of them. "Everyone was talking about the manager getting the sack. But if sacking the manager was the answer to everyone's problems, there would be far more sackings - and there's too many in my opinion anyway." Tranmere had few chances to shout about - Jean-Louis Akpa-Akpro's 74th-minute header against the bar aside.
