Turner keeping his options open

Goalkeeper Iain Turner is hoping simultaneous trials with Bristol Rovers and Swindon will bear fruit ahead of the new season.

The former Everton and Preston goalkeeper, 28, played in Rovers' 3-0 defeat to rivals Bristol City the day after starring in Swindon's 3-0 win at Salisbury on Friday. While admitting the situation is an odd one, he is willing to do what it takes to secure regular football. He told the Swindon Advertiser: "It is a strange situation but from my point of view it is all football and that is what I am after, so hopefully I impress both clubs which gives me more options. "All every footballer wants is regular football and I had a few injuries last season which didn't help me but now I am ready to go and I want to show what I can do. "I got a phone call and spoke to Mark McGhee and he offered me the chance to play in the game and I was happy to because it is another chance to get myself a contract."
