Parky backs Meredith to shine

Bradford boss Phil Parkinson is convinced that new signing James Meredith will be a key player for his side next season.

The Australian joined the Bantams from League Two newcomers York on Friday having helped the Minstermen to an impressive FA Trophy and promotion double last term. Parkinson told the club's official website: "James enjoyed great success with York last season. When a side has success it is usually down to the performances of some key players, and I believe James was one of those. "He's young - only just turned 24 - and he has a hunger to do well. He has a desire to progress as a player and that is something I like to see in a player. "He's a strong player - physically and mentally - and has a real winning mentality. He certainly ticks a lot of boxes. "James is someone I spoke to at the very beginning of the summer. Since then he went back to Australia to think over his future before thankfully agreeing to join us."
