Diego Arismendi is keen to play first-team football at Huddersfield after confirming he is still part of Stoke's long-term plans.

Midfielder believes he is still wanted back at parent club Stoke

Diego Arismendi is determined to grasp his opportunity to play first-team football at Huddersfield Town after confirming he is still part of Stoke City's long-term plans. The Uruguayan midfielder joined the Terriers on loan last week and made his debut as a substitute in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Colchester United. He joined Stoke in 2009, but has yet to make a Premier League appearance for the club after previously taking in loan spells at Brighton and Barnsley. The 24-year-old feels he is still wanted by Potters boss Tony Pulis, but is looking forward to helping Simon Grayson's Huddersfield side challenge for promotion to the Championship.

Fighting

"I know Huddersfield is a big team and a very nice place - a good place to come to play football," Arismendi told the club's official website. "I also know the manager from last year at Leeds and the way he gets his team to play football. He called me and talked to me about how the team is fighting to get up, so I have come here for the season. "I have one more year on my contract at Stoke and the gaffer wants me there, but I am not playing and I need games - I am a young lad." He added: "I like to mix it - when the game needs you to defend I will do, but when you need to play I will go forward - I can do it. I can also play right-back or left-back, but that is not my best position - but I can do it. "I know there are good players in my position here because they are doing well - they are fourth in the League. I am here to fight for my place and I will wait for the gaffer to give me my chance to play in the first XI."
