Villa midfielder willing to bide his time

Moustapha Salifou is willing to bide his time and wait for his opportunities at Aston Villa. The Togolose midfielder joined Villa from Swiss side FC Wil last summer but did not make his first-team debut until the 3-1 victory against Reading in January. He has appeared as a substitute in two more games, including the 4-0 defeat to Manchester United at the weekend, but has yet to start for Martin O'Neill's side. However, Salifou's impressive performances for the reserves have seen him rewarded with a one-year contract extension, and he is happy to keep fighting for a place. He told the Express & Star: "I'm going fine here. I'm training well, it's a good club and I'm happy to be here. "I play regularly for the reserves. You don't change a winning team, so I've had to wait for an opportunity, but that's starting to happen.

Chance

"I've done well enough in the reserves to earn a one-year extension to my contract. Now it's up to me to seize my chance." Salifou, dubbed the 'Togolese Zidane', is loving life in the Premier League and feels his chance could be just around the corner. "Things go very quickly here and you have very little time to think and make the right choice," he said. "When I arrived here, people wondered how I could have a good World Cup and then find myself in the Swiss Second Division. I told them that these things happen. "I know that there are Togo people who now support Aston Villa. I'm sorry they haven't seen me play much, but I hope to play more often."
