Huntelaar and Pato earn last-gasp win

AC Milan required two goals in the final nine minutes to earn a 2-1 win at Fiorentina in Serie A on Wednesday night. Former Milan striker Alberto Gilardino had put the hosts in front in the first half, but Klaas-Jan Huntelaar equalised in the 81st minute before Alexandre Pato scored the winner in stoppage time. The outcome lifted Milan above Roma into second in the table and reduced the gap to league leaders Inter Milan, who are facing Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League, to four points. England midfielder David Beckham dropped to the bench for the second league game in a row as Leonardo opted to field the same starting XI that won 2-0 at Bari on Sunday. Fiorentina broke the deadlock when Milan's defence failed to clear Stevan Jovetic's pass towards the area, leaving Gilardino with an easy tap-in. With 15 minutes remaining, Leonardo brought on Huntelaar in place of Gennaro Gattuso and it proved to be the right move because the substitute equalised five minutes later. Huntelaar played a one-two with Ronaldinho before firing from the heart of the area past Frey. The visitors continued to push forward and their efforts were rewarded with seconds remaining as Ronaldinho's cross found Pato inside the area and his right-footed strike towards the centre of the goal beat Frey.
