Exeter secure much-needed win against Rovers

James Dunne sealed Exeter's first win since January with a last-minute goal in a 1-0 win against Bristol Rovers. The midfielder headed in at the near post from Ryan Harley's corner kick to claim a much-needed three points for Exeter in their battle to avoid relegation. Rovers came closest to scoring in the first half when Byron Anthony let fly from 35 yards. His shot screamed past Paul Jones in the Exeter goal, but cannoned back off the underside of the crossbar before being cleared to safety.

    Two chances

Adam Stansfield missed two good chances for Exeter, the best of which a shot that went wide of goal from 10 yards, which he really should have done better with. After the break, chances were few and far between. Exeter's best effort was from Richard Duffy, whose long range shot had to be tipped over the bar by Mikkel Andersen, while Jones saved well from Chris Lines. However, with the game destined to end goalless, Dunne stooped to head in at the near post to claim the vital win for the Grecians.
