Former Railwaymen return to haunt former club

Gareth Taylor and Joe Anyinsah struck decisive goals against their former club Crewe to hand Carlisle a 2-1 victory at Gresty Road. Gareth Taylor put the visitors ahead in the 17th minute when Cleveland Taylor picked out the on-loan Doncaster Rovers man who rifled the ball past John Ruddy with a sweet far-post volley. Carlisle could have extended their lead but Graham Kavanagh's fierce shot clipped the crossbar and Ruddy pulled off a superb save to stop Cleveland Taylor's goalbound header. Crewe pulled level against the run of play when Billy Jones's 34th-minute corner was flicked on by Gylfi Sigurdsson and Clayton Donaldson stuck the ball in from six yards. Former Crewe goalkeeper Ben Williams kept his team in it with a good save to keep out Donaldson's backheeled effort. But Anyinsah nodded in Peter Murphy's flick-on in the 73rd minute to earn the Cumbrians a vital three points.
