Jones and Ada sent off in defeat

Bury captain Stephen Dawson scored a late winner from the penalty spot to earn a 3-2 victory at nine-man Crewe. Alex goalkeeper Adam Bogdan was nowhere to be seen when Efe Sodje headed Brian Barry-Murphy's corner back across goal and Tom Elliott nodded in the opener for the visitors at the near post after 22 minutes. Crewe levelled six minutes later, however, when Harry Worley headed in Billy Jones' cross to grab his first goal for the club. But the Shakers were back in front with their next attack. Bogdan raced out to clear a long ball but slipped and collided with Elliott, leaving Ryan Lowe with an easy finish into the unguarded net. Calvin Zola missed a series of chances for the Railwaymen before he reacted quickest when Wayne Brown spilled John Brayford's 72nd-minute shot and picked his spot in the roof of the net. Shakers skipper Dawson rattled the foot of Bogdan's post before picking himself up to grab the winner from the spot after Billy Jones was sent off for bringing him down in the area. Matters then got worse for the hosts when referee David Foster harshly sent off Patrick Ada for a challenge on Elliott.
